# Meta’s Muse Outpaces ChatGPT’s Early Mobile Launch on Downloads and Daily Users

[Meta’s Muse](https://about.fb.com/news/2026/09/introducing-muse-personal-ai-agent/?ref=tao.media) is outpacing ChatGPT’s early mobile launch on several adoption metrics, according to Sensor Tower data.

Muse reached 2.8 million downloads across the Apple App Store and Google Play in its first 12 days. On a more comparable U.S. and Canada iOS basis, Muse recorded 1.8 million downloads over that period, compared with 1.3 million for ChatGPT at the same stage of its mobile rollout.

The early numbers stand out even against one of the most successful consumer AI app launches to date. Muse also set a new U.S. daily download record of 264,000 on Sept. 19, its third straight day above 200,000 U.S. downloads. ChatGPT did not cross 200,000 U.S. daily downloads until roughly a year after launch, on the same Sensor Tower comparison.

Engagement is running ahead as well. Muse reached 448,000 U.S. daily active users by day 10, while ChatGPT took 49 days to reach roughly 450,000 U.S. daily active users. By day 12, Muse had reached 642,000 U.S. mobile daily active users, compared with 231,000 for ChatGPT at the same point. Even when restricted to U.S. iOS only, Muse had 359,000 daily active users.

Meta introduced Muse on Sept. 8 as a personal AI agent that handles tasks, projects, reminders, and long-term goals rather than only responding to prompts. Muse is powered by Muse Spark, a model built for agentic work, and runs on Muse Secure VM, a virtual-machine environment that houses both the agent and user data.

ChatGPT’s mobile app helped turn generative AI from a web-first tool into a daily consumer product. Muse is entering a more crowded AI app market, but Meta is launching it with a different pitch, a personal agent that can work across user goals and, eventually, Meta’s broader hardware and software ecosystem.

Meta said Muse is rolling out in the U.S. on iOS, Android, and the web, with support for AI glasses planned. The company is offering the agent free for most uses, with subscription plans for people who want to do more.
