OpenAI and Google Cloud are partnering to bring [OpenAI's frontier models and Codex agentic workflows](https://x.com/OpenAI/status/2112988118471295323?ref=tao.media) to Google Cloud's Model Garden. Enterprises get another way to access OpenAI technology through their existing cloud provider.

Google has begun a private preview of GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna for select enterprise customers. OpenAI expects [general availability in the coming weeks](https://openai.com/index/openai-models-google-cloud/?ref=tao.media). Purchases go through Google Cloud Marketplace and count toward customers' existing Google Cloud spending commitments.

The arrangement combines access to OpenAI models with Google Cloud's identity controls, data governance, and infrastructure. It also brings OpenAI's software-development tools into a cloud platform that offers Google's own Gemini models, so customers can choose between providers without arranging separate purchasing contracts.

Google is providing [API access and connections for local Codex CLI and Desktop workflows](https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/ai-machine-learning/google-cloud-brings-openai-models-to-customers?ref=tao.media) to its Gemini platform for inference, the process of running a model to generate responses. Developers can keep using those Codex interfaces while routing the underlying model requests through Google Cloud.

The three preview models target different workloads. Google lists GPT-6 Astra for demanding coding, computer use, professional tasks, and scientific research; GPT-6.1 Sol for similar agentic and professional work at lower cost; and GPT-6 Luna for fast, cost-efficient everyday tasks at scale.

Usage will appear on a single Google Cloud invoice and count toward Flexible Savings Plans across model providers. Enterprise buyers get one bill for models from different suppliers.

Google says customer prompts, context, and outputs will remain within their designated data perimeter and will not be used to train foundation models. OpenAI models will run on dedicated Google Cloud infrastructure, with authenticated identities, VPC Service Controls, and unified audit logging. Zero Data Retention options and Confidential Compute support are planned additions.

OpenAI also plans to bring its models to Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent; Google separately lists Gemini for business among its upcoming integrations. Microsoft remains OpenAI's primary cloud partner.

Enterprise customers can [register interest in Google's private preview](https://cloud.google.com/resources/interest/openai-models?ref=tao.media) or [request access through OpenAI](https://openai.com/form/openai-on-google-cloud/?ref=tao.media) ahead of the broader rollout.
