## Photon Matrix Turns Mosquito Control Into a Laser Defense System

[Photon Matrix](https://www.tao.media/tag/photon-matrix/) is bringing defense-style targeting hardware to the backyard.

The company’s Blue Laser Mosquito Air Defense system is built for patios, campsites, and outdoor dinners, where mosquitoes are usually handled with sprays, candles, traps, or a lot of annoyed hand-waving. Photon Matrix takes a more direct route: the device scans the air, identifies mosquitoes in flight, and fires a visible blue laser at the target.

The product is basically an Iron Dome for mosquitoes, where the battlefield is your patio table.

The unit scans a 20-foot, 90-degree field in front of it and can target flying insects as small as 2 millimeters. [Photon Matrix](https://photonmatrixlab.com/?ref=tao.media) says the system uses LiDAR, radar, and AI vision to confirm targets before an internal aiming system points the laser at the mosquito. When the system fires, users see a blue flash.

For larger outdoor areas, the company offers an outdoor kit with a rotating base that expands coverage to 360 degrees. The system can run for about four to five hours from a power bank, which makes it practical for campsites and outdoor dinners where wall power is not always nearby.

The pricing starts at $1,088, putting it firmly in the premium outdoor gear category. That price also makes the product more interesting as a signal of where consumer robotics is heading. Sensors, computer vision, and targeting systems that once sounded like lab hardware are moving into niche household problems, and mosquitoes are a problem almost everyone understands.

Photon Matrix is selling active interception for one of the most common annoyances outdoors, packaged as a consumer device with a very clear promise: find the mosquito, aim, and fire.
