Bittensor has halted emissions for dozens of subnets deemed inactive or non-functional, as Const said the network will begin conducting weekly reviews to remove “dead” subnets and restore active ones on a case-by-case basis.
In a Discord post, he said the move follows a previous commitment to tighten emission eligibility standards across the network. He said emissions have now been ceased for any subnet with no miner distribution, which he described as a “non active mechanism,” or no code.
“As a matter of cadence we will do this weekly (Monday) removing dead subnets and bringing back active ones on a case by case basis,” Const wrote.

The subnets affected in the latest sweep include a broad range of IDs across the network, including 5, 7, 10, 14, 16, 20, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 37, 38, 40, 42, 43, 45, 47, 52, 53, 57, 58, 62, 66, 69, 72, 73, 76, 80, 83, 86, 87, 89, 90, 91, 92, 95, 98, 100, 106, 109, 111, 112, 113, 115, 116, 117, 118, 119, 121, 122, 125, 127, and 128.
Const said the process will be “actively managed” and suggested some teams may be reinstated if they are experiencing technical issues rather than outright abandoning development.
