NIOME Plans Capped GENOME-to-SN 55 Alpha Conviction Swap Ahead of Q4 Migration

NIOME is piloting a capped GENOME-to-NIOME “conviction swap” to move Base holders into Bittensor Subnet 55 without shocking the alpha pool. The first tranche is limited to 5% of GENOME’s snapshot market cap, and delivers NIOME as locked alpha with decaying conviction.

NIOME, the Genomes.io team behind Bittensor SN 55 for synthetic genomic data, plans to open a controlled test of a GENOME-to-NIOME Conviction Swap that will move a small portion of the older Base-chain token into NIOME alpha on Bittensor Subnet 55.

The first test will be capped at 5% of GENOME’s snapshot market capitalization, or about $27,000. The swap portal is not live yet but the team is currently targeting Q4.

The pilot only tests the mechanism NIOME expects to use later in staged 5% batches. Holders who miss the initial tranche should still be able to migrate in a later round once the broader process opens.

How the GENOME-to-NIOME Swap Will Work

The swap is designed to move GENOME holders from Base into NIOME’s Bittensor market without sending the entire legacy token base through SN55’s alpha pool at once.

Under the planned flow, a holder will connect an eligible Base wallet holding GENOME and a Bittensor coldkey capable of receiving locked alpha. The user will then sign to prove wallet ownership, deposit GENOME into escrow, and receive NIOME alpha on SN55.

The delivered NIOME alpha will carry a proportional share of the original conviction, or locked-alpha state, so migrated tokens are not released as fully liquid subnet alpha right away. The lock decays over time instead of requiring a separate claim or unlock transaction later.

After NIOME alpha delivery is independently verified, the corresponding GENOME will be burned. If delivery fails, the escrow design includes a time-based refund path intended to prevent deposited funds from being stranded.

NIOME also set a per-wallet limit of 100,000 GENOME for the first test. The team gave an example conversion of 100,000 GENOME to about 74 NIOME alpha at the fixed snapshot price.

The staged structure is meant to limit slippage for both migrating GENOME holders and existing NIOME stakers. A community recap calculated that if the initial 5% tranche equals about $27,000, a full migration would imply roughly $540,000 moving into SN55’s alpha pool. That figure is a straight scale-up from the announced test cap, not a separately announced treasury or assets-under-management number.

Why Conviction Matters for the Migration

The migration changes incentives rather than launching a new product.

GENOME exists on Base, while NIOME is the alpha token for Bittensor Subnet 55. Moving holders from one market into the other creates a liquidity problem. A large one-time migration could pressure the subnet pool, distort pricing, and give newly migrated holders an immediate path to sell alpha into existing liquidity.

The conviction lock is NIOME’s answer to that problem. By delivering migrated NIOME as locked alpha with inherited conviction that decays over time, the system tries to make the swap less attractive as a short-term exit route. It does not eliminate market risk, but it gives the migration a more gradual structure than a single unrestricted conversion event.

That approach also gives the team a chance to test practical execution before expanding the program. The first tranche is small by design, with the pilot focused on whether wallet eligibility, signatures, Bittensor coldkey delivery, escrow handling, verification, and burns work as intended.

What NIOME Is Building on Bittensor

NIOME is live on Bittensor Subnet 55 and focuses on privacy-safe synthetic genomic data for pharmaceutical research, precision medicine, and drug-discovery workflows.

NIOME develops AI-generated genomic profiles that preserve research-relevant statistical patterns without copying identifiable patient genomes. In its subnet model, miners generate synthetic DNA profiles, and validators evaluate submissions using statistical benchmarks, biological plausibility checks, and challenge-specific quality criteria.

NIOME describes the current challenge as HBB and CRISPR editing outcome work, connecting the subnet’s synthetic-data approach to genes and disease areas relevant to sickle cell disease and beta-thalassemia research. There are also plans for future work around multi-omics integration and spatial multi-omics, though those roadmap items are separate from the GENOME migration.

NIOME is one of the more specialized DeSci-oriented projects in the Bittensor ecosystem, and the swap keeps that product thesis intact and folds Genomes.io’s existing token holder base into the subnet’s alpha economy.

A Small Test Before the Larger Q4 Migration

NIOME has not launched the portal, announced a final migration date, or published a complete conversion table beyond the 100,000 GENOME-to-roughly-74-NIOME example.

The announcement also does not resolve every holder-specific edge case, including what happens to GENOME committed to other staking arrangements. Those details will matter before the full migration can be treated as complete.

For now, the confirmed news is narrower. NIOME is preparing a capped $27,000 pilot for moving GENOME into SN55 alpha through escrow, burn verification, and decaying conviction locks. If the test works, the same design is expected to support the broader Q4 migration in 5% batches.

That gives NIOME a measured path for joining an older Base token with a live Bittensor subnet, while reducing the risk that migration mechanics overwhelm the market they are meant to connect.
