A new bridge deployment is bringing TAO into the Solana ecosystem in a way that aims to solve a long-standing problem in cross-chain assets: authenticity.

At Solana Accelerate USA conference, Wormhole Labs announced that a canonical version of TAO is now live on Solana, enabling native trading across the network’s DeFi stack. The integration allows TAO to be used directly on platforms like Jupiter and Meteora, as well as wallets including Phantom and Solflare.

The rollout is powered by Wormhole’s Sunrise platform, designed as a “day-one asset gateway” for bringing established tokens onto Solana with immediate liquidity. Unlike traditional bridges that rely on wrapped representations, Sunrise uses Wormhole’s Native Token Transfers system, where tokens are locked or burned on the source chain and minted on the destination chain while preserving key metadata.

That distinction matters in a market where multiple versions of the same asset can exist simultaneously. On Solana, anyone can deploy an SPL token and label it “TAO,” creating fragmentation and trust issues. Wormhole’s approach positions this version as the canonical representation, giving it stronger legitimacy across trading venues and applications.

The integration effectively moves TAO from being an external asset to a composable building block within Solana’s DeFi ecosystem. Traders can now access TAO liquidity pairs against assets like SOL and USDC, while protocols can integrate it into lending, liquidity provisioning, and structured products.

Kamino, Solana's largest lending & borrowing venue, confirmed the expansion shortly after launch, with Kamino Swap enabling trading for TAO with zero fees.

This follows a broader trend of Solana onboarding major external assets through infrastructure partners as it pushes its “Internet Capital Markets” thesis, where assets are globally accessible the moment they come onchain. Previous integrations have included tokens like XRP, alongside other Sunrise-enabled assets such as AVAX and HYPE.

For Bittensor, bringing TAO into Solana introduces a new demand layer driven by liquidity, speculation, and DeFi composability. It also lowers the barrier for a broader class of crypto users to gain exposure to the Bittensor economy without interacting directly with its underlying infrastructure.
